Community Living Program
Considering joining the Community Living Program? To explore further, you may wish to read “Is Starwalkers for you?”
The first step to joining Starwalkers is to download our Application Form. We encourage all prospective community members to call to schedule a visit before applying.

To know who you are and what is yours to do is essential for the well being of oneself and of the universe. The smaller community and the universe community await your gifts to contribute to the creative process of evolutionary change. Community health depends on personal growth, and soul growth cannot be nurtured without the cradle of healthy community.
Individuals in the program begin with a guided reflection of their lives and then begin to glimpse the possibilities for their lives. Meeting regularly with an advisor is one of the features of this aspect of the program. The advisors help to draw out the unique gifts of each individual.
Other activities that help the reach inward to soul and one’s uniqueness, are journal writing, sharing stories, art, dreamwork, imaging, and awakening quests in nature.
There are activities that enhance the reaching outward to spirit: increasing attention, awareness and presence in completing daily tasks, living more intentionally, conversations, nature activities and awakening quests.
With an awakened soul and spirit, with the support of a caring community, with mental, emotional and other personal growth, with a confident sense of one’s purpose, then one can proceed to be a powerful source in the universe’s evolution. Using one’s gifts in the service of the world is the outgrowth of the inner work that is done.
Participants in the program find avenues to use their gifts. The possibilities are as diverse as the individuals themselves – art, social change, creating new economic systems, growing food, healing, environmental innovations, caring for others in new ways. Participants initiate change in their immediate environment and carry their purpose and practice with them to their own communities when they leave.
Advisors in the program have a long tradition in drawing out the gifts of others, in healing, dreamwork, community living, community gardening, and in using nature as a guide for personal development.
All workshops offered to the public at large are free to Community Living participants during their stay.

Length of Stay
Length of stay is in increments of one month. To get the most benefit from the program, potential applicants should consider at what stage they are in their lives and what their past experiences have been. To get to know oneself, to face recurring issues, to learn about one’s gifts does take time. To learn how to live in community, to practice consensus and conflict resolution also takes a committment of time. A six month stay, a year long stay - those types of time periods allow ample opportunities to learn, to practice, to become confident in a new way of living. Shorter stays are also possibilities; the experience is tailored to individual needs.
Participants may continue their association with the community indefinitely. For those who live in the area, there are regularly scheduled meetings so that we can remember and remind one another of what we learned.
The community living program takes a break during the month of December and resumes again after the New Year.
Participants can choose from two settings in which to live in community. There is a town setting and a country setting. You may also choose to assist in the work of Valley Creek Farm, a local organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm.
