Crossing the Threshhold
A contemporary rite of passage for young adults 17-20 years old
Are you unsure of where you want to go next?
Are you worried about the planet?
Would you like to do something meaningful with your life?
Today’s world is bewildering. There is so much to do, so much to buy, so much to worry about, so many uncertainties about the future. We frequently feel depressed, pressured by others, uncertain, insecure. We do not have rituals that prepare us for living life as an adult. Sure, we get our driving license, graduate from high school, and look forward to drinking legally, but do these events prepare us to live a meaningful life?
What if someone told you that you have a unique contribution to make to the ongoing adventure of our planet? That no one else has had or will ever have your unique combination of talents, experiences and dreams? Are you aware that you and everyone else on the planet have an important purpose?
Cross over the threshold into your adult life with a vision of who you are and how you can serve the world.
In this retreat you will
- make a map depicting where you have been, where you are now, and your purpose and direction for the future
- be offered challenges to bring out your gifts and offer them in service to other human beings and to the earth
- begin to identify what your role is in helping to keep life on the planet
Many activities are offered to help you figure out your life:
- spending time in nature
- ritual
- art activities
- working outside
- dreamwork
- journaling
There are also opportunities to socialize:
- preparing and eating meals together
- playing games
- talking and laughing.
The retreat is held in a rural wooded setting in a private home. Sleeping accommodations are sleeping bags, couches and floors, and the option of tent camping especially in warmer months.
In order that you might reflect on your life without the many distractions of the everyday world, we ask that you leave your cell phones, movies, ipods, and electronic games at home.
The length of the retreat is four days and three nights. The cost is $150 per person, which covers all expenses including food.
