We are rallying together to walk a 500-mile virtual pilgrimage.
The challenge: Walk 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago from any where in the world to raise awareness of gender-based violence and oppression and to monetarily support Starwalker pilgrims and the Star Walkers Foundation. Don't worry. We're here to support you. We know 500 miles is a long way. In fact it's roughly the same mileage of the real Camino de Santiago route from France to Spain. You can choose to take it at your own pace and in your own time. You can also choose the exact mileage you'd like to walk. And, you've got the entire 2021 season to complete it. By joining the virtual walk you are committing your voice and footsteps to the movement of brave womxn taking a stand for women's rights, healing and empowerment. This is an interactive fundraiser. So even though you may be walking solo, you won't be walking alone. Please join our Star Walkers Virtual Pilgrimage 2021-22 Facebook group and follow us on Instagram @starwalkersfoundation. Share with us where you're walking and why you're taking on this challenge. Along the way we'll be passing out encouragements, book recommendations, and prizes. After completing your virtual pilgrimage we'll award you with an official Star Walkers Certificate of Completion. You're a Star Walker in our book. |
Sacred journeys are by far the most peaceful mass rituals that humankind has yet devised for itself... the common thread in all these sacred journeys is a vision of peace, justice and sustainability. We are all in this together. |
Activate your virtual pilgrimage today and join Founder Olivia Elliott as she walks the Camino de Santiago in late August 2021 on Instagram @starwalkersfoundation.
What's this Virtual Pilgrimage Challenge all about?
What are the qualifications to be a Virtual Star Walker?
The Virtual Pilgrimage is open to anyone. There are no age, race, gender, etc. limitations. If you can walk and are committed to pledging your fundraising prowess to supporting a movement of women pilgrimaging for empowerment you are welcome to take part!
What does it cost to activate my Virtual Pilgrimage?
We kindly ask that you make a minimum donation of $5 to activate your walk. From there the sky is the limit on how much you'd like to help fundraise. We suggest asking friends, family, work peers, to pledge $0.10 per mile you plan to walk.
What happens with the money I fundraise and donate?
All money raised will go directly to support the 2022 Camino pilgrimage of our docu-film series Star Walkers. It could be you!

How far do I have to walk?
The most well-known route of the Camino de Santiago is nearly 500 miles. It begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. For your Virtual Pilgrimage you may choose to walk the entire 500 miles. You can also walk a shorter distance: 250 miles, 100 miles, or 60 miles. The Virtual Pilgrimage Challenge is less about the distance and more about the intention you set while walking.
Do I have to walk my Virtual Pilgrimage alone?
No! Grab a group of friends and start a Virtual Pilgrimage group of your own.
Of course you can complete the challenge on your own. Many pilgrimages are solitary pursuits. It's your time and intention in the journey that marks change.
